Maryland roadtrip...

We took a weekend trip to the Baltimore and surrounding areas of Maryland. On the way we saw a Mustang on a Yukon... ok it was a small mustang.

Then we saw a van converted into... something...

Heading into Baltimore...

I had to take a few shots in the tunnel.

We found the town of Ellicott and had a fantastic lunch. We found some small shops and antique dealers along the main road. I climbed a rock and named it my own!

Then climbed down when I realised it wasn't that stupendous. My wife took these shots.

Some of the buildings were built right over streams that run through the town.

Near a tattoo parlor we found this awesome ride.

The town is mountainous and most buildings had steep staircases up thin alleyways.

As we were leaving town my wife spotted this school.

It was not open but we were able to look around...

...and through the windows. There were wild raspberries everywhere and we helped ourselves to a few. They were a bit tart but tasty.

We went to "The Crab Shanty" and got the BEST crab cakes in Maryland.
On the way, we saw this deer getting a nosh on the side of the road. He would take a few mouthfuls then leap away. When it looked safe enough it would come back for more.

Why does youtube video look so crappy lately... when it finally uploads...?

WIIF? #20

Wendy has been cranking out the correct guesses and was spot-on for WIIF? #19

Here is What Is It Friday? #20

This one was a hard one... but Scott nailed it! Check out his many blogs from his profile page.

The fine print: On Fridays I will post an image in hopes that visitors will leave a guess in the comment section. The following Friday (or when someone guesses correctly) I will post a wide shot of the item. Each Friday a NEW image, along with a link to the previous weeks post, will be posted.

Independence Day...

We celebrated with some friends, some food, some booze, and now snooze...
I need some sleep. But we had a great time and saw some great fireworks. Here are some that I caught.

I saved them at a slightly larger size so if you click them you can get a better look. Enjoy!

Take it in stride...

Something about the way the water and light "bends" at its feet that draws me in.

A Beautiful Day... of my own...

This past week MCF posted a bunch of pictures from one of his great outings on our little island. In the past we have explored together and had similarities if not downright identical photos. My little experiment was to go to a site he previously visited to see what I would find and how I would interpret the local through my lens. I also wanted to try out my new InfraRed filter (which I need to practice with). Long shutter speeds are needed so any movement is blurred. Enjoy the comparisons.

Oh, and lately youtube has been sucking. It keeps failing short 13 second clips although the same format went through previously without any problems.

View from the top.

"Now everyone say GARBAGE!"

Reflecting on the present.

Two versions of the same subject at different speeds. The first is a slower shutter with more light entering.

This was taken from about 30 feet up. There were thousands of fish along the shore. Minnows. But the video keeps failing the processing on youtube.

See that little dot just right of center?

That's him.

Another "Flutter By"

"AHHHHHH, I love the cool wind blowing through my feathers!"

Woah! Déjávu! Kind of...

And those darned guineas are in town...

That there is one fowl guinea! Click it to see the biggest mess since the platypus.
