Meet Up Long Island...

As of this coming Saturday I will have been posting daily for two years. I recently signed up for a photography meetup group and went to my first gathering at a local art museum. I met some great people and some phenomenal photographers. We walked around the grounds and saw many sculptures and I have a bunch of photos. I'll be sharing them throughout this week and posting the year-end video after the Saturday blog post.

"I'm a little jockey, short and stout..."

"Our heart belongs to dance."

"I pledge allegiance..."

"I won a cupie doll!"

"It's full of stars!"

"Mummy looks like a daddy!"

W.H.I.N.N.Y. (no, not "the Pooh")...

I was looking up the proper spelling of whinny for this post and came across Why Horses In Need... Need You.

The below horses are not from the above location... but if you can help, please do! And enjoy the following images.

OMG! A six legged horse?

Oh, whew! I thought I was in the company of a mutant!

Skritch-skritch-skritch-skritch...

I am always in awe of the strength...

...soulfulness...

...and sheer power that these animals contain.

"Eye can tell you stories..."

"...but will you listen?"

Wooded walk...

...that led to a lake. Which I'll be bringing my dogs to soon...

But for now... enjoy the horse... and the cute elfin chick.

Painted...

A few months ago I featured a horse statue covered in pennies. It was one of many different ones that an artist was commissioned to create a few years ago. They were purchased by different buyers and can be found around the Island.

This one is in Garden City and has different Garden City traits and sights painted on it.

A little hoarse...

And a little horse...

Anybody out there still listening to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones? I've been a fan for quite a few years... 13 I think... wierd, isn't it, how that number keeps popping up?

Anyway, I was driving home yesterday with the windows open and the music cranking and I was singing along to Someday I Suppose.

Now... my throat is a little hoarse :(

A horse is a horse...

...of course... of course... unless that horse is... uhh... copper?

This is my favorite of the many horse statues made for a public arts program in Nassau County a few years ago. Although many were painted this one was covered with pennies. The horses were sold publicly and this one ended up on the fromt lawn of a credit union. The elements are not kind though as you can see the shellac starting to wear and lift.
