A light powder creates havoc...

I don't get it... My daily driver is a '94 Celica and I can plow through a foot of snow without any problems. But, while we were driving home in our Tribute from Gettysburg, PA, we encountered snow... a whole quarter of an INCH... and what should have taken 4 hours became a seven hour ordeal. There was a bit of ice under that minute amount of powder.

There were trucks in ravines, pickups flipped over, multi-car collisions, torn up dividers and SLOOOOOOW moving traffic. I was a bad photographer and did not have my camera at the ready for the carnage and most was on the opposite side of the road. We couldn't get over 25 miles an hour and at one point we were debating whether we should stop at a hotel for the night.

We made it home but I wanted to share some of the ride with you. The snow followed us the entire way and the beasts are now frolicking in the backyard and getting quite messy.

Our navigator was quite diligent...

This was the worst it looked...

These dudes were MOVING out there...

Night fell...

And slow shutters clicked...

I'm home in a warm house now... and the snow continues to fall.
I'll see what morning brings.

What's on your hard drive?...

It may not look like one to you, but this is a hard drive... actually the inside of a hard drive. This one obviously isn't working anymore... but I like the artistry of circuit boards and tech "thingies" so I took it apart and it now acts as a sculpture on my desk at work. The platters of a hard drive have a mirror finish and this one was reflecting the plants on my windowsill. I focused on the plants reflected in the platter and the drive itself became out of focus. I liked the results :)

Funny story... One of our old IT people saw this on my desk and asked "What's that?" So I replied that "the new G5 was making some grinding noise... so I popped open the shell and yanked this out. Been quiet ever since." Her look of fright was priceless :)

Reflecting back...

I will not be reliant on my cell cam... but in a pinch it is a wonderful tool. For a while I was carrying my bulky camera everywhere and it just wasn't practical. I still take it for outings but my cell is always at my side.

I love when the clouds are dark below and lit so well from above. It has an ominous feel. I first noticed the reflection in the rear window that was in front of me. The bigger picture "popped" when I pulled the file to my computer and viewed it on a bigger screen.

This isn't the first time I have shot this stretch of road. The lighting at sunset makes the ride home a bit more enjoyable.

Riding out the storm...

We just lost cable as the three people in the new show DRIVE answered the cell phones. Guess someone is telling me to not get hooked on this show. Thank the lord that internet is still available :)

Shot this on the way home from seeing Grindhouse. I hope they do a follow up with "Don't". You'll know what I mean when you see it. As Bill once said "A most excellent adventure!"
