I see the light...

And it is blinding!

What a riveting picture... ain't I punny?

Profuse thanks...

Jamie Dawn is officially the BOMB for passing along this scrumpdiddlyiscious recipe that Alison (if that is the wrong Alison let me know and I'll update the link) had given to her.

The doubling of the filling amount was the perfect amount and my wife and I had a VERY enjoyable breakfast... that I will be having again tomorrow :)

30 minutes to bake.

I loved licking the spoon.

Hot out of the oven.

Pile on those delicious sugar coated apples.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Everyone has such beautiful dogs...

I've seen some of those "ugliest dog" contests... but even those are such cute doggies. I don't think there are any ugly pets. But there are some ugly owners out there (darned mirrors) ;)

Here are a couple of our friend's furry sidekicks. I just love everyone of 'em.

WIIF? #9

We had two winners last week.

Here is What Is It Friday? #9

Holy cow!!! Jeff banged this one out in twelve minutes!
I'm going to have to step up and get something tough.

The fine print: On Fridays I will post an image in hopes that visitors will leave a guess in the comment section. The following Friday (or when someone guesses correctly) I will post a wide shot of the item. Each Friday a NEW image, along with a link to the previous weeks post, will be posted. (Is the fine print getting better?)

Leaps and bounds...

A friend of ours ran his two dogs at the agility trial this past weekend. Aris (pronounced AHH-RISS) can be seen at the start of his leap and also at his landing. Cole is seen in flight.

You've seen my BC's run... and if you think they are fast you should see Aris in a full break. I've seen him run races and it is insane. I'll see about getting some video of him at a future show.

We all have our boundaries...

Be it invisible, pvc, aluminum, or wood... we all have our boundaries. These fields were separated by wood posts and wire fencing but a row of trees was left as a natural boundary.

I am a very politically incorrect individual in my private life. In a public environment (like this isn't public) I try not to offend people. But sometimes I will read or hear something that just gets me to say out loud... "ARE THEY FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?!!!"

Yes, it is worthy of a question mark and THREE exclaimation points.

Today I saw a news story on CNN about an asian-american woman that was offended by ANOTHER two NY radio jocks that did a skit with a robotic voice asking questions at a chinese take out. Asking for "flied lice" and junk like that. She is now trying to get them taken off the air. You know what? GROW THE FREAK UP!

People joke about things. Whether its about me being a guinea, my wife being a jew, the pizza bagels that we may raise one day, my gay friends, my black friends, my druken irish friends, my "asian" friends (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese)... whatever. The point is we are all friends; we all joke about each other, and life goes on. Just get over it.

This little guy fella'...

As my uncle would say... "Thisa' little guy fella' outa' the treea'!"

My three dogs found him in the yard and he's been hanging around the base of my tree since the morning. He'll climb halfway up and then make his way down again. The adults have come down to investigate but don't seem to help him.

My wife put an x-pen around the tree to keep him from wandering and the dogs from getting him. I put a bowl of granola out and some water near the base and was greeted by baby squeels. The parents noticed that but still would not help.

I hope he finds his way up and I hope he's not too cold :(

Let there be bloom...

These flowers were smaller than my pinky-nail... but covered a huge field out east on Long Island. Spring has indeed sprung.

The invasion continues...

First the ships landed.

Now the pods hatch...

When will "they" be revealed?

And thank you MCF for the new profile pic.

I thought...

I thought all my finacial woes were solved when I found the goose that lays the golden eggs...

But it was only a duck.

WIIF? #8

Since Jeff from A Golden World guessed correctly so quickly... here is another one!

Here is What Is It Friday? #8

I'm having a REALLY bad night. Both pics guessed REALLY quickly and I'm sucking on GRAW too :(
I have to make these harder ;)

Congrats to MCF though. Until next week...

WIIF? #7

Congrats to RC of Strange Culture... For guessing last weeks WIIF?!

Here is What Is It Friday? #7

In just over 3 hours Jeff from A Golden World guessed correctly with headphone jack. Congrats!

He's got my vote...

So, John McCain said, in response to his "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, anyway, ah ..." comment:
"Please, I was talking to some of my old veterans friends."
"My response is, Lighten up and get a life."

Asked if his joke was insensitive, McCain said: "Insensitive to what? The Iranians?" Followed by laughter and a shit eating grin.

Now, MoveOn has an ad that states:
"America has lived through six years of a reckless foreign policy." "We're stuck in Iraq. More than 3,000 Americans are dead. And thousands more wounded."
"Now comes John McCain with his answer to what we should do about Iran. John McCain? We can't afford another reckless president."

You know what? If we were not in Iraq or Afganistan, who's to say there would not have been more attacks on our soil? More attacks that may have killed more than the 3,000 that have fought for our freedom... our safety... our way of life. Our soldiers do their job so that the people at MoveOn can do their job with out being dragged out into the town square and shot for speaking their minds.

Not for nothing, but we have to stop worrying about offending everyone. John McCain may be just what we need. He has my vote. 100%

In Memorium...

Cho Seung-Hui...you sick SOB: May God have mercy on your soul because I would not.

Jowlers... part deux...

Earlier in the week I posted my jowler pics. But I thought to myself... "Self, what could you do to make these pictures better?"

At that point my wife said "I've got to blow the dog." (Not like THAT you sick...sick...readers.)

A blower is like a reverse vacuum that blows air at a high speed at room temperature so you can literally blow the water out of a dogs coat without drying out the hair or skin with the heated air of a human hair dryer.

Well, I took the hose in one hand and my camera in the other... aimed them both at my face and hit the switch. The psuedo-jowler results can be seen below. (I like the third one best.) MCF and others should have a field day with these.

Next up... taking a picture of my face while sticking my head out of the sunroof of my vehicle at a high rate of speed.

It's a mad, mad, mad, mad... bridge?

Who would have thought that almost 55 years after Mad's inseption Alfred E. Neuman would still be a prominant figure?

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

They've landed...

Every time I see a water tower draped in blowing material I can't help but think of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds and the alien ships he described. Below is the original image I took followed by a a series of photoshoped images. A contrast adjustment here and a median adjustment there... throw in some hue and saturation adjustments for good measure and you can almost see the alien waving to you from up high.

Have any of my readers had alien encounters or sightings? Have you seen something that you later realized was not what you had thought you had seen? I for one have had two sightings that I just can't explain and I have one on film at my other site that was taken about ten years ago.

A cloud perhaps? I didn't remember seeing any clouds in the sky that day... and I was shooting with a high shutter speed (1/2000th of a second) so even a fast moving object should have been tack-sharp. It was strange indeed.

MCF's Perilous! 3.I

For those who don't know or remember, MCF's Perilous is a quiz in reverse. He posts ten answers. We get one week to come up with the corresponding questions and post them on our blogs, leaving a link to our post in the comments on MCF's page. Next week, he'll reveal the questions he was thinking of, along with everyone's scores.

Points carry over from one installment to the next, and after five rounds the person with the most points can redeem them for a “prize”. Every five rounds, the scores reset, and a new winner could potentially gain a piece of the Mysterious master prize. Here's our current scoring system:

1 pt=each question
2 pts=each question that matches MCF's
-1 pt=any sentences not in question form, or forgetting a question mark
15 pts=Bonus for the Best Question

Will you face the perils below and attain the maximum points possible? Here are the next 10 answers:

1. What was the LAST thing MCF noticed when he saw THIS pic?
1. The color of her hair.

2. What did Jamie Dawn yell 12 seconds before her son took THIS picture of her?
2. Bunnies!

3.Which of the two flicks in Grindhouse did you like better?
3. As of right now, the first one.

4. How did Anne, of The Cheese Diaries, feel like when Julia Child passed?
4. “I've known her all these years.”

5. What milk scares MCF?
5. Two percent.

6. Are you serious?
6. Yes, as preposterous as the premise may be.

7. What did MCF do when a breaking news story broke into his episode of Prison Break instead of breaking his remote on the broken disc he had of Brokeback Mountain?
7. He changed the channel and put on wrestling, instead.

8. What did he feel toward the vile anchorwoman that interrupted his show to talk about the coming storm?
8. Nothing but contempt.

9. What did he do to the photos of her face that he downloaded from the web later that night?
9. I stapled them together.

10. What term did MCF coin in high-school for his “problems” during his “acne phase”?
10. A “vesuvius”.

Jowlers...

MCF posted a Phantasmic Link to a site I pointed him to called Jowlers.

Basically, in their own words... "These fun pictures are created when the subject of a photo shakes their head really fast while the picture is taken."

Here are my jowlers. Lets see yours!

btw... I submitted both pics to their site :)

Update: Check out what MCF created with my pic. Anyone else? I'd love to see 'em and link to them here. (I picture a monkey...)

Riding out the storm...

We just lost cable as the three people in the new show DRIVE answered the cell phones. Guess someone is telling me to not get hooked on this show. Thank the lord that internet is still available :)

Shot this on the way home from seeing Grindhouse. I hope they do a follow up with "Don't". You'll know what I mean when you see it. As Bill once said "A most excellent adventure!"

Cheating a little today....

I've been helping my father in law install a new front door, frame, and stormdoor... before the Noreastern hits. I will have pics shortly, but as you can see its after 11:30 and we are at this for about 12 hours now. Just needed to get the post up before midnight and then I will update it.
=====================

So, this story starts a week ago when a wind caught my screen door off guard and ripped apart the door frame. With the storm coming I knew I needed to get this fixed and had to cancel plans with my buds. We were supposed to go paintballing and then to see "The World's Most Famous Unknown Band" The Good Rats and some pole dancers. But I had to miss out on both :( My father-in-law arrived around noon and we hit the Home Depot for supplies before returning to start the removal of the old frame and what turned out to be about a fourteen hour job.

New frame and saddle in place but taking longer than I thought it would.

Ten o'clock PM and we are prepping the new screen door.

Parts, parts, and more parts.

I realized at 11:30 that I better get something posted otherwise it would be the first time I missed a daily post in 45 days. But I made it! :) At around 2am Sunday my door is in place, my father-in-law is on his way home, and I am prepping pictures for all of you. We finished just before the rain started and i just have to put some minor finishing touches on the screen door.

I need some sleep now though because were hitting Grindhouse Sunday around noon. Until tomor...uhh...today...g'night.

WIIF? #6

Rachel was the big winner last week guessing the correct answer just a day after the picture was posted. What will this week bring?

What Is It Friday? #6

Congrats to RC of Strange Culture... Although he did negate himself after after each of his guesses (Hey, leave that to me!) and didn't give me a chance to drop a hint ;) he did choose a push pin. I would have also accepted tack.

And my first clue would have been... Quit pushing me Jamie. I get the point. ;)
Then I would pray that she got the hint and not think I was an ass. LOL

Back to riding out the storm...

The fine print: On Fridays, obviously, I will post an image in hopes that visitors will leave a guess in the comment section. The following Friday (or when someone guesses correctly) I will post a NEW image along with a link to the previous weeks post... Which will have been updated with an additional shot so that you can see what it was that I originally photographed. (I have to figure an easier way to word this...because i get confused reading it.)

OH, and HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13th from b13... MWAAA-HA-HA-HA!

Reflection...

Another rainy day.
Another day of "blah."
Another day of high gas prices.
Another day of headaches.
Another day of doubt.
Another day of unknown.

Another day of wonder.
Another day of worth.
Another day of love.
Another day of work.
Another day of life.
Another rainy day.

A horse is a horse...

...of course... of course... unless that horse is... uhh... copper?

This is my favorite of the many horse statues made for a public arts program in Nassau County a few years ago. Although many were painted this one was covered with pennies. The horses were sold publicly and this one ended up on the fromt lawn of a credit union. The elements are not kind though as you can see the shellac starting to wear and lift.

Black and white world...

...through rainbow colored glasses.

So, Imus is a schmuck. We all knew this. He has said far worse things on the radio in the past. And since Howard went to satellite it seems that Jesse and Al need someone else to harass about free speech.

People say stupid things. Others say stupid things... in public. I've been known to do both. But get over it already. Mr. Sharpton needs a day job.

Anyway, I took this today on the way home and stripped out the color below the sky but left the reflection in tact.

Like it? Or hate it? And no, my lead in is not a comment on blacks, whites, or gays. Like Imus, I'm just trying to be funny for my audience.
