This baby had fallen from its nest at a fellow employee's home. After surviving the night we researched a squirrel sanctuary that took in the baby in.
He was quite lively and, from the looks of it, only a few days old.
I noticed something in its mouth that looked like sawdust and the baby kept bringing its paws up to its mouth to try and clear it out. The woman at the sanctuary confirmed that they were baby maggots and would clean the mouth out right away.
The tail of the mother can be seen from the ground but we are not certain if she is alive. My friend will check tonight and if the mother is deceased they will need to save any remaining babies from the nest.
UPDATE: Mama is alive and is probably taking care of the other young-uns. She may have pushed the baby we saved out for a reason... or was just to exhausted to know or care. If I get updates I'll keep you informed.

Awww!
So glad someone took it in.
These images are astonishing. I can hardly get over how much those front legs and paws look like a human arm and hand.
Great post!!!
Awww you!!!
We are happy to know a squirrel's life has value and you took measures to try and save this little creature.
(I once rescued a baby rat that somehow got trapped on a busy street in rush hour...scooped him up in a big envelope and let him loose in a park.)
You are the sweetest!
xoxoxo
How wonderful of you guys to save it and take it to a sanctuary! I sure hope he thrives and grows healthy and strong!
I felt horrible after the last baby situation... Had I known about the sanctuary then that fuzzy baby would be all grown up by now :(
Major brownie points for doing what you did. Good karma is coming your way.
