Intermission...

We interrupt this four part post for a view to the West at 6:55PM.

We now return to our regularly scheduled posting.

Digits and such... a four part post... Day 3...

Happy New Year's Eve.

The human hand has 27 bones: the carpus or wrist account for 8; the metacarpus or palm contains 5; the remaining 14 are digital bones; fingers and thumb. The eight bones of the wrist are arranged in two rows of four. These bones fit into a shallow socket formed by the bones of the forearm. The bones of proximal row are (from lateral to medial): scaphoid, lunate, triquetral and pisiform.
(Thanks again Wiki)

Also of note is that the articulation of the human hand is more complex and delicate than that of comparable organs in any other animals. Without this extra articulation, we would not be able to operate a wide variety of tools and devices. The hand can also form a fist, for example in combat, or as a gesture. (Yet again, Wiki)

Digits and such... a four part post... Day 2...

The human hand consists of a broad palm (metacarpus) with 5 digits, attached to the forearm by a joint called the wrist (carpus). The back of the hand is formally called the dorsum of the hand.

Digits and such... a four part post... Day 1...

I focused on my hand the other day (pun intended). I had done so in the past and just stared at it for an hour or so. I spent time focusing from different lengths and on different points of the digits and how they moved and bent. I've never done drugs other than your standard over the counter or prescription types. I know, I'm boring, but I get high off life! ;)

All of the following are black and white. I hope you follow over the next few days and beyond. Enjoy.

Some dogs...

Some dogs have a chase drive.
Waggie (Chance) is one of those.

If it isn't moving he BARKS, BARKS, BARKS...
Even when he lays down.

I was quite happy when he actually picked up the ball, gave it a mad shake and brought it to me so that it could be thrown or kicked again.

We played a bit of soccer while I tossed a tennis ball for the bitches.

Take a bow Waggie. You've done well! :)

I fill holes...

How do you fill the empty spaces in your lives?

"Empty Spaces
What shall we use to fill the empty spaces
Where waves of hunger roar?
Shall we set out across this sea of faces
In search of more and more applause?
What Shall we do Now?
Shall we buy a new guitar?
Shall we drive a more powerful car?
Shall we work straight through the night?
Shall we get into fights?
Leave the lights on?
Drop bombs?
Do tours of the east?
Contract disease?
Bury bones?
Break up homes?
Send flowers by phone?
Take to drink?
Go to shrinks?
Give up meat?
Rarely sleep?
Keep people as pets?
Train dogs?
Raise rats?
Fill the attic with cash?
Bury treasure?
Store up leisure?
But never relax at all
With our backs to the wall
Backs to the Wall"—Pink Floyd

WIIF #97

Rachel turned up the pressure last week.

Here is What Is It Friday? #97

I gave a few hints:
1) It is organic.
2) Who knew a Pokémon was based off of one? Pineco
3) Flashing lights + Spanish "the" + we = strobilus (A strobilus (plural strobili) is an organ of many plants that contains the reproductive structures. Strobili are ordinarily called cones in many of these groups. Strobili are characterized by a central axis (anatomically a stem) surrounded by spirally arranged or decussate structures that bear sporangia or other reproductive parts.) Wiki rules!
4) It can make your car or home... festive.
5) _____sol ice cream _____

...but nobody guessed a pine cone! Better luck next time!

The fine print: On Fridays I will post an image in hopes that visitors will leave a guess in the comment section. The following Friday (or when someone guesses correctly) I will post a wide shot of the item. Each Friday a NEW image, along with a link to the previous weeks post, will be posted.

A new life for next spring...

I don't mind snow... but it's cold outside. No, wait. It's F****ING FRIGID outside!!! I can feel the cold coming through the insulated walls of my house. The dogs ask to go out, take a step outside and turn around with a look on their faces that states "ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME?" Devon is at a point where she sees me approaching the back door and she slowly steps backwards with her ears lowered.

I needed to pull this shot from a hike I took a few weeks ago. It reminds me of a warmer time where you could actually FEEL the sun on your face. And it foreshadows a coming spring with new green grass scrunching below bare feet.

If Jack Frost wants to keep nipping at my nose he better toss some snow my way. Otherwise I want some warmth for a weekend photo-hike.

Innopperable Startgate...

On one of our hikes we came across a Stargate lying on the floor. Or was it a portal to hell? Maybe it was a pit that is to be used in the sequel to the movie "300"! Underground rocket silo? Alien landing pad?

Maybe it was just an overgrown sewage drain of some sort on the top of a wooded hill far away from houses or buildings. There were those black choppers off in the distance though...

Let it snow...

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

But the sticks are so delightful...

And since we've no place to go...

Let it snow...

Let it snow...

Let it snow!

A very strange fact...

I just realized that Thursday, December 25th will be my six hundred and sixty sixth consecutive day of posting. I'm a little freaked out right now.

Surprise! Surprise!...

It's not my birthday yet... but it does fall over the holiday break, so my friends at work surprised me by decorating my cube on Friday. I have volunteered making the birthday signs for the past two years so this was a nice greeting before the weekend! :)

Linda knew it wasn't a BC but it was perfect for holding the "Milk Biondi" LOL! She created a path of biscuits from the hall to my cube.

When I do get gray hair, I hope I get "wings" like Paulie Walnuts instead of a skunk stripe!

The snow started falling...

...and we were able to leave a bit early. I love nature's ornaments :)

WIIF #96

Tatman's friend John got the thing that tends to go BOOM!!!

Here is What Is It Friday? #96

Rachel turned up the pressure and guessed correctly :) I liked these shots so much that I have an assortment to share with you.

Something just occurred to me... Seven more days to Christmas! It's going to be a rough season but I hope you all can have a joyous holiday.

The deep dark woods...

Earth, like life, seems darkest before the dawn. But the sun shall rise and bring forth a new day. My friend that I have known almost all of my life is to be buried today. But many memories of him will live on among all those that he has touched in his too short life. And those are many.

Save me a seat at the bar brother. When my time here is through we'll do those tequila shots like we used to.

Manowar: Carry On

The north star always guides me
When winter skies are gray
And I wait for sun when all are one
I shall not betray
Calling at me
I'm waiting when all are led astray

Carry on my sons forever
Carry on when I am gone
Carry on when the day is long
Forever carry on
For as long as we're together
Then forever carry on

Darkness all around us
We don't close our eyes
No one's gonna' ground us
We were born to fly
Comin' at us; no stopping
Born to amplify

Carry on my sons forever
Carry on when I am gone
Carry on when the day is long
Forever carry on
For as long as we're together
Then forever carry on

Yea, be my brother
Fight to stay alive
All the world can't change us
With all their burned-out jive
Come get us now we're waiting
We won't run and hide

Carry on my sons forever
Carry on when I am gone
Carry on when the day is long
Forever carry on
For as long as we're together
Then forever carry on

Now we're all together
Let's sing a fighting song
One hundred thousand riders
We can't all be wrong
Comin' at us; no stopping
Always carry on

Carry on my sons forever
Carry on when I am gone
Carry on when the day is long
Forever carry on
For as long as we're together
Then forever carry on

A bend in the path...

You're navigating uncharted waters now and we don't know where they lead. I'll light a candle for you to hold up high to guide you on your journey. Farewell...

With death comes new life...

This image was planned for today but it is quite fitting during this trying time. These next few posts will forever have a stronger meaning than I first intended.

A few for my fallen brother...

These three among many will always bring good memories of you.
Long live the memories...

How will I laugh tomorrow... when I can't even smile today.

You can't bring me down

Caught Somewhere In Time

Ready for takeoff...

I just wish it was sharp.

Joseph is numb...

Known for thirty-some-odd years. Ending on a day of tears. Playing on the swings and slides. Crash through waves of rolling tides. Hanging at the park all summer. Baseball fields and football fumbles. Dating girls and drinking beers. All through high school and college years. Teasing if the Bears don't win. Sharing all our guilt and sin. Starting mosh pits at the bars. Metro, Feb's, clubs near and far. Basement parties with Our Foundation. Mix tapes, movies, degeneration. Woodstock! Laying under stars. Discussing Camaros and other cars. Concerts committee at NCsquared. Mess with us? No one dared. Comic shops and the Franklin Quad. Girlfriends with their killer bods. A&S bagels, Taco Bell, 151 and Tequila hell. Pool halls on a Friday night. Got your back in any fight. Brothers till the very end. Again we'll meet; not now, but then.

Today I lost a friend that would give the world to help anyone that needed it. Not a day will go by where you will not be thought of. Words can not express how many lives you touched or how much you will be missed. Rest in peace my brother. Rest in peace.

Reaching out...

Does anyone write letters anymore? In a world of cell phones and internet connectivity anywhere at anytime do any of you actually still send postcards? Just wondering aloud.
