Heath Ledger...R.I.P.

Heath Ledger was found dead in his NY apartment today. Sleeping pills were reportedly found around his body.

MCF said...: Yeah, I hate to say it, but in light of what's happened that fidgeting and itching seem consistent with the behavior of someone on drugs. Still a shock.

Over on a Newsarama board, someone commented on this happening within a week of Brad Renfro, who while not as high profile as Ledger I was familiar with from Apt Pupil and Ghost World. Apparently HE was found dead at the age of 25 from unknown causes LAST Tuesday(he had some drug history too). I don't know what's going on with these young actors. Ledger leaves behind a daughter which really sucks. And Renfro had a son.

MCF said...: OR, the behavior in the video could be indicative of sleep deprivation. Newsarama has an extended story now that mentions how he was so obsessed while playing the Joker and his mind was always going, he couldn't get more than 2 hours of sleep a night and was taking pills for it.

1. So tragic and so sad. I didn't know he had a drug problem. I mean, he was supposed to be one of the "sane ones".

2. He died at the peak of his career, with Batman coming out soon. Will he be our generation's James Dean?

Darrell said...: I said over at MCF's that I'm still kinda waiting to hear that this is a big internet rumor that punk'd the whole world. I was never a huge fan of the guy but I've been under the impression for a few weeks now that I was about to become one.
